Peach Cookies {That Look Like a Real Peach!}

Gambar
I love when I can combine art and food because I've always been so passionate about each of them. These cookies are the perfect combination of both. And when food is prettier doesn't it just taste better =)? I've seen different versions of these cookies roaming around Pinterest and I'm so excited I finally got around to trying them. I noticed some recipes called for vegetable oil and others called for butter. I'm all about the butter version because butter makes everything better doesn't it? I made a few slight alterations to the original recipe, from Cafe Chocolada , such as adding a few extra tablespoons of sugar in the cookie dough mixture. I used half brown sugar (rather than all granulated) and added vanilla extract to add another slight layer of flavor. I think salt is almost always a must for cookie dough so I added a tad and used salted butter. Then I opted to paint the cookie rather than dip it in colored milk. I dipped the first one and it was too sogg...

Peach Crumb Bars

Gambar
Peach cobbler meet sugar cookies meets crumb cake to create one delicious Peach Crumb Bar. These summer inspired dessert bars are loaded with fresh, sweetly spiced, juicy peaches and will quickly remind you of your favorite peach cobbler. Their texture is soft yet crumbly, moist (thanks to all the juice from the peaches) and slightly cake-y. I would highly recommend eating them warm because it's like peach pie or cobbler, it's just not near as good cold. These are excellent when paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream but they are also amazing all on their own. Enjoy! Oh, and you're going to want that corner piece =), it's my favorite. Peach Crumb Bars Yields about 24 bars Ingredients: 4 1/2 cups peaches, peeled, pitted and diced (about 8 small peaches, use firm but ripe) 1 3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided 3 1/2 Tbsp cornstarch 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp ginger 2 Tbsp orange juice 1 tsp orange zest (optional) 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1...

Peaches and Cream Oatmeal

Gambar
No more buying peaches and cream oatmeal packets with those artificial peaches =). This oatmeal with real  peaches and real cream is so much better that it's likely you'll never be able to return to the packets once you've tried this.  I eat oatmeal about 5 out of 7 days, I often even eat it as my night time snack before bed. Yeah I love oatmeal just that much. I never thought I'd say it, but it's true. My mom would always eat it every morning when I was little and I never would've thought 15 years later I would be doing the same thing.  Of course I never eat it plain, simply sweetened with sugar or as she did by adding a half a stick of butter. I always add other flavors or fruits.  Some of my favorites include Banana Oatmeal , Brown Sugar Maple Oatmeal (a future recipe post) and this Peaches and Cream Oatmeal.  I made this using canned peaches because that is what I had on hand, and also I like the texture of the canned peaches along with the texture of the o...
